Know the Facts

My home is brand new; my ducts should be OK, right?

No. New houses are in need of duct cleaning because contractors run the units during sanding and drywall work, two processes that kick up dust and create fine particles in every new home construction. Also, we’ve found the workers use floor vents as trash cans.

How often should my ducts be cleaned?

It depends on your filter type, but we recommend cleaning your ducts every three to five years. How long does duct cleaning take? The average time for our thorough service requires from 3 to 3-1/2 hours for a home with one HVAC unit and from 4-1/2 to 6-1/2 hours for a home with two HVAC systems.

Isn't my air cleaned by the filter in my HVAC system?

You’d think so, but the fact is that the average home filtration system only traps approximately 7% of the allergens and particulates in the air.

What should I expect to pay?

The average one-unit house service costs between $360-450, while the average two-unit house service costs between $550-650.

Why do I need my air ducts cleaned?

After our service, our customers found that duct cleaning helped relieve allergies and asthma, reduced dust and odors, and improved the efficiency of their furnace. The same can be done for you and your family with a duct cleaning by Duct Man of Atlanta.

Will it leave a mess in my house?

No. If the company – like Duct Man of Atlanta – uses the proper equipment and has trained technicians, it is not messy.

How do you clean air ducts?

Essentially, we pull a vacuum on the duct system, cleaning it on the inside. We use a large HEPA vacuum unit and connect a 12" flexible pipe from the unit to the furnace ducts. One tech goes throughout the house blowing down through the vents while the vacuum sucks it back towards the furnace. The other tech is at the furnace running pneumatic devices through the ducts to agitate and sweep the dust and debris.

Why do I need my dryer vent cleaned?

There are two reasons: safety and efficiency. Safety because a clean dryer vent prevents the duct from clogging and starting a fire. Efficiency because a clear vent reduces the time it takes to dry clothes.
